Writer of the Week - Aşkın Zengin Akkuş

He is still writing without slowing down...
-------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ------------
When my paths crossed with precious Osman Aysu in Dark Istanbul, I already knew what I wrote above, but when we started working together, I realized that I had met a wonderful master with a lot of discovery but also a lot of fun. Every visit to our publishing house office turned into a ceremony of grace for us. Visiting days were obviously prepared early at home, and he appeared before us with a youthful atmosphere, as if he had stepped out of the covers of old magazines, so to speak. When he arrived, timeless moments began for us. Actually, he wasn't alive today. He stopped his own clock at a time he deemed appropriate, as if he were pulling us into that time with an irresistible magic. I might have expressed it correctly if I said that our clothes felt alien to us. Especially when he started talking, the language and rhetoric he used took us away. In fact, he was clearly teaching our admiring eyes that the word " kindness " is not just a word, but a way of life in itself. He made us understand that he did not use it because he did not prefer it, not because he was not familiar with today's style.
It didn't take long for me to understand that the velvet expression reflected in his pen was not just a writing technique but actually a reflection of his personality. His first contribution to our publishing house started with a first. The master had never written a short story before. As an expression of his satisfaction with the fact that we give importance to young crime writers, he wrote a brand new story in the espionage genre called " What I Remember from the Past " for the second book of the story selection series that we started under the name Dark Detective . He then wrote a new novel called " Murder in the Headline " and we published it without wasting time. Every time he came, he said that he loved us very much, that he had the passion and enthusiasm to write again, and therefore he would deliver at least two new books a month, and he kept his promise. While “ Murder in the Headline ” was in its second edition, this time an unexpected novel came from Osman Aysu. He delivered an epic romance novel called " Yusuf and Elif " saying, "Guys, I have always had a wish that I could not offer to publishers, but may you have another first and be able to publish a historical romance novel by Osman Aysu ." We sent it to the printing house without wasting any time. How is it possible to stop Osman Aysu ? He said two books a month, but this number suddenly started to climb. It increased to 3-4 books every month. “Brother Osman, do you want us to publish four books a month?” When I said, "No, son, let me write it and you can print it whenever you see fit." What else do I have to do? I am very happy doing what I love most, I want to spend every moment I have except sleeping and eating writing. "I entrust all my writings to you in my next life," he replied. “How about I come to your office once in a while and spend some time writing here?” His offer swept us off our feet with happiness. Of course, it didn't stop there. However, his intention was different. Our kind gentleman was about to say, "Come on, girl, let's write a detective novel with you," but he was already doing his part. On the other hand, he started to give advice to our young detective writers by reading their books in order to inspire them. In short, he quickly became our precious asset...
We have put the books he delivered to us in order of printing, but since the surprises never end, we are always prepared as if they are going to be printed urgently.
That's it, friends. We cannot finish telling about the master. As we got to know him, we discovered the existence of many Osman Aysu hidden in the novels he wrote. If you ask, he laughs instead of answering, but as far as we understand, in each of his novels, he always talks about his own life, personality, and friends, at least a little.
I am very happy to know this great master, who has written his name in golden letters in the history of Turkish detective literature, and to work with him and benefit from his experiences.
Finally, I can say this:
Every writer waters and grows the plants in his own garden and feeds on the amazing energy they emit. Osman Aysu , in his fifty-year career, has created a whole ecosystem, let alone a garden, and built a wonderful world there for his readers. How happy we would be if we could sprinkle a little water into the garden of this world...
May your pen be eternal, my master...

This week's guest of our column, where we host one of our writers every week, is a worldly beautiful woman. I don't know how to explain it! Words are inadequate. I didn't write " Very sweet woman " in the title for nothing. Of course, I was inspired by his first book , "Death with So much Sugar" ...
Time flies while chatting with him, he never gets bored, on the contrary he asks "oh, is it over?" you regret. You will be delighted with his cheerful laughter, and you will find peace with his delightful energy... He is so natural that if the birth certificates did not deny you, you could pretend to be family to everyone.
If you've never read his books; You don't know that you run out of pages in one go. It wouldn't be a bad analogy to say that as a crime writer, every story and novel he writes in different sub-genres "swings the reader from side to side" . The Dark Detective series, one of our publishing house's favorite books, publishes such surprising stories of his with great pleasure. Food for Street Animals; In the first book, the Severed Hand; In the second book, My Mother Is Very Smart; in the fourth book and Dog Training; In the fifth book, they became among the most popular stories of the series. As their names suggest, they are all detective stories of completely different genres . As the indispensable author of the Dark Detective series, we hope that we will continue to enjoy reading Ayşe Erbulak's stories in the hundredth book.
Ayşe Erbulak is one of the rare people to whom I say "I'm glad I met her." Finally, I can say this:
May your pen always be safe and your path will be good, my dear friend...
