I Will Write to You - Selin Bak

A FLOOD DOES NOT COME UP EASILY

Dark Istanbul 's brand new site darkkitap.com is now online. This is my playground too. I swear, our publisher said do whatever you want. Together we will turn this playground into an amusement park.
Sometimes I will tell you a story, sometimes we will dream together. Sometimes we will go on adventure after adventure with a book hero you love very much or we will pit the heroes against each other. One day we will criticize the authors, the other day we will criticize their books. One week we will have a writer as our guest, we will delve into his life and make him sweat. In short, whatever we do, rest assured we will have a lot of fun. In this first week's article, I will tell you a little about myself. Then let's not get into these waters again because I hate talking about myself. I want others to talk about me :P
Nothing in life was 'cook a pear and fall into my mouth' as some people think. This is also the case in literature. Dark Istanbul Media Inc. Its founder, dear Sami Dündar, said something very nice to me about this; You scratched and scraped with your nails . Indeed it is. Of course, meeting the right people at the right time was my biggest luck. I always read a lot, I was always scribbling things, but it never occurred to me to get them published. Frankly, I had not made any efforts in this direction. Thanks to those right people, I learned what I could do and even that what I wrote was appreciated.
I started writing first in 221B Magazine and then in Detective Magazine . I also have articles written on sites such as Kidega and Polisye Durumlar , but what I really wanted to do was always read. As I read and wrote, I made friends with many writers whom I admired. I learned something from all of them, and I grew fat to the bone. I sent what I wrote to my very dear friends. I listened to your criticisms and suggestions. 'A Colombo Kemal Story - Hoarder', which we first wrote with our dear Çağatay Yaşmut, will appear in Dark Detective 4. met with readers. But in the meantime, I started writing my individual novel. In fact, I have a very tragicomic memory about this. Let me tell you.

I've reached page 70 in the novel, I'm going full throttle. The plot is clear, everything is ready. All that remains is to write. One day, I picked up dear Nurhan Işkın's novel The Killer's Apology and started reading it. Oh my God, boiling water poured down my head. The plot I planned is almost the same, even the names of the characters are the same. He doesn't know this either, he will learn from here  What did I do? I deleted it. Yes, I deleted all my writing, the plot, my notes, everything. Are we back to square one... But I won't give up. Of course I didn't. One day, a topic that came to mind in a conversation with a friend of mine formed the plot of the new novel. The writing of that novel is also finished. There is a snapshot about him too, I can't tell you about it.

Now, I have written the novel and I am making the final corrections. As I correct it, I will send three or five pages at a time to my friend, so that we can benefit from the friendship of the writer of years, right? Anyway sir, I sent the first pages. I'm sure, of course, he will like it because he always liked what I sent him, both in stories and in other ways. I hope he will like the novel.... He printed out what I wrote and took notes on it and examined it, thank you. I opened the e-mail and realized, oh my God... Everything was drawn with red pen, huge warnings everywhere... And wasn't he kidding? I cried. I called immediately, he was laughing so hard and I was crying. The more I cry, the more he laughs. He even said something to me; “You don't write, just leave it.” We didn't talk for a while :D Just kidding, of course. Of course, a friend will tell you the pain. Whatever the master says. I'm doomed, I did what you said, but the novel, which was 240 pages, reduced to 180. In short, I finished that novel with a heavy heart. Of course, it's not on the shelves yet. I couldn't find a publishing house to publish it :P No, of course not. I wrote it in such a way that I'm waiting for the time to create outrage.
Of course, when the story came out in the Dark Detective series, I was excited. When the story auditions for the new selection started, I sent the story I wrote. Yes, I always have stories waiting on the sidelines. It was deemed worth printing. Swan Lake Ballet was published in Dark Detective 5 . Okay, I've written about it in many places before, it was also published jointly with one of the best detectives in the country, but I don't remember being as happy as I was when my own story was published. Believe me, I have no idea how to explain to you the pride of co-authoring a book with authors who have published series of books, held workshops, and won awards. Even though I have all their mobile phone numbers now :D When you become a member of Poyabir, they put you in a group, oh who is not in the group! :D If this is not a success, what is?

The sixth of the Dark Detective series, which continues unabated, is currently being prepared for publication. I wrote a story, it will blow your mind. I can say that it was my favorite. Look, it's not just me saying this, dear Ercan Akbay also agrees  (I wish I had recorded Ercan Akbay's voice and had it played constantly in the background. "Selin's story is very good! Selin's story is very good!" Let me ask this, Mr. Sami.) Well, if it happens, we'll have a lot of fun. And maybe sometimes we'll record a conversation with a writer and publish it. I promise I'll make secret recordings, too. ) If you had any idea about the difficulty of getting someone to like something, you'd understand what I mean. If Ercan Akbay doesn't like it, he criticizes it harshly. So it doesn't hurt. Of course, it was wonderful news that he found my story worth publishing, because having a previously published story is not a guarantee for you to be included in the selection. If it doesn't meet the criteria, they will scratch you. 'Sukutuhayal' is currently counting the days to appear before you, the readers, in Dark Detective 6 . Erotic, sensual, dangerous and bloody... A very sexy situation story... I think you will like it, especially male readers will like it more :P While Dark Istanbul was working on making all its anthologies into TV series and movies, I thought about it. If this story of mine becomes a TV series or a movie, who will play it and how? Is it subject to censorship? You were wondering, right? I'm writing to ask you to do it anyway :D I also have a request. Please listen to the song 'Teoman - How Beautiful' in the background while reading that story.

When our dear publisher talked about such a site and convinced me by complimenting me with his sweet tongue, which I was already inclined to do, we started here today. I hope it will be welcomed if I advertise a little as my first article.

Books will come out, of course we will talk about it, praise it, maybe even bury it. But this year, since I am in the jury of the Poyabir Kristal Clamp Awards, we will not be able to discuss and talk about the new books in Turkish detective fiction. Between us, I'm incredibly excited. Who will participate, what kind of fiction will I read, who will win? Will those who don't win be angry with me? Do they trip? Crazy questions in my head... 

I just learned that Patrick Dempsey has been voted the sexiest man alive. I don't follow the magazine much, I may have learned it late. Either I don't understand men or everyone has cataracts. Although, when I look at my past, I may not understand it either. :D While I'm trying to digest this, read the article, share it everywhere, keep your fingers intact and write me everything that comes to your mind. If there is something that makes you think, "Selin, let's do this, let's talk about that," please do not hesitate to write. My place is clear, my homeland is clear. You know how to reach it. Now, with your permission, I will put an end to the article and continue reading dear Yaprak Öz's novel, Efsunlu Cazibe, with the red-haired long-haired Selin. See you next week, right?
